Putting Your Health First
At Old Dominion University, we approach healthcare holistically. Our patient-centered approach means we don’t only focus on technique and research; we also listen, we care, and we make sure to give you the tools you need to get healthy and stay healthy.
Undergraduate nursing students at ODU get hands-on experience working alongside a nurse practitioner which prepares them for real-life scenarios with one-on-one guidance. Graduate students get to participate in ODU’s Community Care initiatives throughout Hampton Roads, where they learn advanced care techniques while providing much-needed services to our neighbors.
Carolyn Rutledge is a Professor and Associate Chair of Nursing. She is the project director of ODU Community Care and the Academic Director of C-Tier Telehealth. Professor Rutledge has been in Family Medicine for 32 years and in 2014 she was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing. In 2022 she received the Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award.
