#f7dc6f;\">provide education and experiential training<\/span> for the nursing workforce (students, faculty, and community providers\/preceptors) that prepares them to provide healthcare to patients in rural, MUA, and HPSA designated areas<\/li>\n \t<li><span style=\"color: #f7dc6f;\">provide longitudinal clinical rotations<\/span> through a nurse-led mobile health clinic (MHC) to encourage better understanding of chronic illness and patient\/provider relationships<\/li>\n \t<li><span style=\"color: #f7dc6f;\">increase the diversity of the nursing workforce<\/span> by focusing on culturally sensitive care, healthcare disparities\/inequity, SDOH, inter- and intra-professional collaboration (IPC), and healthcare technology\/telehealth (TH)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\nThe goal is for students, faculty, and community providers\/preceptors to <span style=\"color: #f7dc6f;\">engage in critical thinking and clinical practice<\/span> as they meet the needs of <span style=\"color: In comparison to Virginia as a whole, Southside has a higher proportion of people without health insurance (15.8%), receiving Medicaid (18.8%), living in mobile homes (20%), being unemployed (8.7%), and below the poverty line (26%), with <span style=\"color: #f7dc6f;\">33% being children<\/span>. The average <span style=\"color: #f7dc6f;\">distance traveled for work is 31 miles, but public transportation is essentially nonexistent<\/span>.\n<br><\/br>The region has <span style=\"color: #f7dc6f;\">a high proportion of veterans (16.4%), elderly (25.1%), and homeless<\/span>.
